Code.org has garnered support from influential global leaders, including Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Satya Nadella, Barack Obama, and Justin Trudeau, among many others. Additionally, there is the fortune of generous donations from prominent companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, Google, and numerous others.

Code.org also organizes the annual Hour of Code campaign, which has engaged more than 15% of all students in the world.

Since 2022, Code.org has been collaborating with FTI Consulting to increase the reach of Code.org’s educational program across the EMEA region, by supporting in areas such as content creation, project management, and execution, the team deeply passionate about driving this purpose-driven initiative forward.

The ‘State of CS & ICT education in the UAE’ report was released at the World Governments Summit in collaboration with e& and FTI Consulting

Developed through a collaborative effort between the World Governments Summit (WGS) Organization, e&, Code.org and FTI Consulting, the report provides insights into the nation's commitment to fostering digital literacy and preparing citizens for 21st-century challenges.

At a glance:

  • The report indicates that 96% of parents believe computer science fosters creativity, problem-solving skills, and structured thinking, while 88% of the UAE public believes that computer science opens job opportunities and reduces inequalities. 99% of parents whose children are learning computer science express a desire for them to continue studying it.

  • 86% of the public agrees that offering early-age training in computer science is crucial to avoid missing a strategic opportunity compared to other countries already implementing such programs.

MoE cooperates with Code.org to enhance and expand computer science education throughout the UAE

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Code.org, with the aim of enhancing and expanding computer science education throughout the UAE.

The collaboration will focus on four aspects of promoting computer science education in the country. These include raising awareness about the importance of computer science among students, teachers, parents, and various social groups; providing the relevant resources and curriculum with content in the Arabic language; training teachers at all stages and ensuring their competence in teaching computer science; in addition to allocating time for computer science during and after school hours.

Code.org signed MoUs with the Ministry of Education, the Artificial Intelligence Office UAE, e& group, and Majid Al Futtaim.

Launched the 2023 Hour of Code digital campaign featuring appearances by key leaders of the public and private sectors

2023 Hour of Code digital campaign was launched in Q4 and included appearances by His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi (UAE Minister of Education), His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama (UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications), Her Excellency Sana Mohamad Suhail (Director General of Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority), Hatem Dowidar (Group Chief Executive Officer at e&), Ahmed Galal Ismail (CEO of Majid Al Futtaim) and Lars Faeste (FTI Consulting EMEA Chairman).

Hosted the ‘AI for Oceans’ Hour of Code with the Ministry of Education in the UAE at COP28

COP 28 is an opportunity to identify  global solutions for limiting global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees, inform countries’ preparations for revised and more ambitious Nationally Determined Contributions (national climate plans) due by 2025, accelerate the green transition that is already happening and ultimately achieve the delivery of the Paris Agreement goals. The goal of this event was to educate school-age students about the importance of environmental sustainability and how technology can be a key driving force to address climate challenge.

150 children of e& employees participated in an 8-week e&-branded coding bootcamp utilizing Code.org resources

Code.org’s coding bootcamp offered the children of e& employees an immersive introduction to computer science and AI and was highly well received by both parents and students, with 100% of parents pleased their child was able to participate in the course and 100% of parents planning to continue training their child in programming & computational thinking

Successfully conducted the first Teacher Training program in the Middle East

With the Ministry of Education and Emirates School Establishment (ESE), we delivered the first teacher training program in the Middle East, ensuring teachers can leverage Code.org expertise, resources and tools in the classroom.

Hadi Partovi at the World Government Summit in Dubai

Speaking at the World Government Summit in Dubai, he spoke about the importance of modernizing primary and secondary curriculum, to include computer science and AI, to prepare the next generation for the foundational skills of tomorrow.

Code.org meets Qatar Foundation

Code.org met with President Abeer Al-Khalifa and her team to share some of the impressive work done by Qatar Foundation’s Pre-University Education division, especially in the area of STEM.

We had a great #HourOfCode with Her Majesty Queen Rania, Hadi Partovi, and a group of 8th graders at the Al Jandaweel School for Girls. #gendergap!
